This year’s edition of FINNOSUMMIT, the most important Fintech event in latin America, took place on September the 12th and 13th at the Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral in Mexico City. Over 1500 investors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions representatives, consultants and high impact executives from 15 different countries attended the conference.
This keynote, the event’s grand finale, is a very good recap of the huge opportunity that exists at the financial services industry in Latin America, as, Rodolfo González, Partner of Foundation Capital, reviews its main characteristics and the opportunities arising from them at the region.
The speaker lists three constraints for companies working in financial services: “trust, cost and access”. It is because of these constraints that, according to Rodolfo, there are huge innovation opportunities in LatAm such as financial inclusion, because of the lack of access, or as the smartphone penetration. So much so, that, according to the speaker, “there are even startups in LatAm proving that they can have higher growth rates than others in China”.
